August 2009 India Report...

The following is the report from our work in India for the month of August.  As you read this report be praying for God's provision for our monthly need of $3,000.00.  You might also pray about adopting one of our trainers for $75.00 per month through October 2010.  To do so, click on the Donate link to the right and give to the India designation. District 9

101 people trained in 9 districts.  Peacocks are our national bird and are worshiped in this group of villages.  They are believed to be powerful and a form of god; also the witchcraft doctors have power from them.  In a village known for its peacocks, a volunteer prayed for two months for this stronghold to break.  Within 10 weeks more than 75% of the birds flew away.  Villagers did all they could to get them to stay, but nothing helped.  Then on July 11th, the last 3 birds left the area.  During the migration, the team of volunteers continued to share the gospel and witness; and by July 11, 93 people were baptized, and more were on their way into the Kingdom.  23 house groups formed, and 15 churches started in August.

District 10

99 people trained in 8 villages.  In one village, a farmer, who was also a Hindu activist, suffered a brain hemorrhage.  With no way to get him to the hospital, the family decided to ask their neighbor for help, to whom they had not spoken for almost a year because the neighbor had become a follower of Christ.  The Christian neighbor said all he knew was to pray.  Soon the bleeding stopped and in a couple of hours the headache left; and the man slept peacefully the rest of the night.  After he got out of the hospital, the man hugged him and shared his desire that he wanted to accept the same God.  He was baptized the same day.  Soon, more people from his family accepted the faith.  13 house groups formed, and 9 churches started in August.

District 11

98 people trained in 8 villages.  A grocery store owner was healed of deafness.  A believer who worked on a village headman’s farm noticed that the village headman had an incurable infection on his feet. She told him about a power that could heal the infection, if the headman believed.  When the headman returned to ask more about the power, the woman told him about Jesus and His healing power, and she offered to pray.  In a few weeks, the infection was completely gone.  The headman and his family got baptized.  Also, 13 of the workers also accepted the faith.  Hallelujah!  17 house groups formed, and 9 churches started in August.

District 12

97 people trained in 8 villages.  In one village, a woman was sick with a long-term fever for a couple of years.  When her family came in contact with a trainer, she was carried to a nearby village.  The training team fasted for one day and prayed for her healing.  When the family was ready to leave, after a day or two, the bed sores had started to dry up, and the sick woman had strength, no fever, and no pain.  The people who witnessed this miracle shared the news with others, which resulted in 94 baptisms that week. 14 new house groups formed, and 14 churches started in August.

District 13

99 people trained in 8 villages.  A villager was delivered instantly of several demons from which he had suffered for three and a half years.  The family of 13 people accepted the Lord.  Some men tried to stop the training, and later police came and arrested the house owner and the trainer.  They were released that night.  Several village heads who have accepted the faith in the last one year have requested to have training in their villages.  19 house groups formed, and 10 churches started in August.

District 14

99 people trained in 8 villages.  A farmer was healed of asthma, and his family who were involved in witchcraft renounced that to take up their new faith.  So far, this brother has gone to almost all the homes in his village to tell the story of Jesus.  Two demon-possessed men were delivered; and there have been many, many healings, like pains, fevers, boils on the skin, skin diseases, and snake bites.  Please pray for the trainer who has fever and chicken pox.  (A lot of times when healings take place the men involved get sick.)  The most amazing thing in these villages is that the word is becoming more prominent and is being rooted among the villagers.  The word is setting people free.  11 house groups formed, and 9 churches started in August.

District 15

99 people trained in 11 villages.  A farmer was healed of gangrene in his left arm.  He got baptized and is now enthusiastically witnessing to everyone he knows.  The local house group helped a family, who had a sick child, by giving them some food and medical support.  This act of compassion touched the family, and they received the Lord as their Savior.  Now the family is attending the same house Church.  11 new house groups started, and 10 churches started in August.

District 16

119 people trained in 11 villages.  A middle-aged woman who was suffering from epilepsy was prayed for by a volunteer.  She was healed, and the sickness never came back.  She prayed for more than 600 people in 4 weeks, and 40–50 percent of them got healed—most of them instantly.  Through one person the church grew enormously!  In one month, 719 people got baptized.  31 house groups formed, and 8 churches started in August.

District 17

90 people trained in 6 villages.  In one village, a believer village headman decided to host a training.  The day the training started, the headman died of a heart attack.  For some reason, the village headman’s son thought that his father’s previous gods had cursed them, so the son came against the local church.  He has declared that no Christians will have fellowship ever.  The son roused the Hindus to worship their gods from now on.  This decision has affected 17 villages, 9 house churches, and 14 house groups.  Please pray that the heart of the headman’s son changes and that the churches and fellowships can be resumed.  19 house groups formed, and 16 churches started in August.

District 18

93 people trained in 11 villages.  A poor farmer was healed of partial blindness in both eyes instantly when a volunteer prayed for him.  Then the farmer accepted the Lord.  Also, a woman was healed of a stomach tumor.  15 new house groups formed, and 8 new churches started in August.

District 19

81 people trained in 6 villages.  A trainer prayed for a woman who had psoriasis, and she was not immediately healed.  A couple of weeks later, the trainers thought she should attend a training session.  During one of the sessions, she started jumping up and down and yelling that she was healed.  She said something touched her, and she was sure it had been God.  The healing actually was evident in 3 week’s time.  This healing resulted in many baptisms followed by formation of several house groups.  21 house groups formed, and 13 new churches started in August.

District 20

119 people trained in 11 villages. This district is the most Hindu influenced, and in the last year, there have been lots of disturbances during trainings: people have been persecuted and farmers who believe have lost their jobs. We have decided to pray against this situation for next three months.  Please pray with us.  11 house groups formed, and 9 new churches started in August.

District 21

81 people trained in 9 villages.  A young witchcraft doctor was bitten by a poisonous snake.  Usually witchcraft is considered to be very effective, and these doctors claim to have power over snakes; and usually village people come to the witchcraft doctors as their first choice for treatment.  The family of this young man did their magic for hours but could not restore the dying man.  So they prayed to their gods and begged for the life of their son, but still nothing happened.  So they decided to rush to the hospital, but there was no bus going to town.  While they were waiting at the bus stop, watching the life of their son slip away, the father prayed, “If there is a God watching my son die, please come to rescue while there is still time.”  Two volunteers coming from training had missed their last bus and were walking home when they saw this family.  The volunteers inquired and soon understood why God made them walk.  They shared the healing power of God with the family then prayed for the dying man.  To the family’s surprise, the man started to get his breath back; soon he could talk; then he could sit; and finally he could stand on his feet.  All this happened in less than an hour.  The family renounced their magic practices that night and received God as their Savior.  The next morning, news spread that the well-known family who practiced witchcraft for 3 generations had become Christians.  This resulted in 39 baptisms, and more are on their way into the Kingdom.  21 house groups formed, and 13 churches started in August.

District 9
90 people trained in 8 villages.  A family in one village had no income for a few years.  They owned a barren piece of land, and the father could only provide for his family by begging.  When he met one of our volunteers, he heard the good news, and the two of them went to farmer’s field and prayed that the Lord would bless the land and that it would become fertile again.  Then in faith the volunteer and his fellow workers bought corn seed for the farmer’s family.  Last reported, the farmer was already experiencing blessing and health, and his field has healthy, tiny corn plants growing up all over the field, which should mean a good crop.  The farmer and his family also have joined the Lord’s family, and he is sharing how the Lord changed his life forever and leading others to faith. 15 house groups formed, and 9 churches started in July.

District 10
111 people trained in 10 villages.  A 22-year-old college student was healed of arthritis immediately, and he started to share how God had healed him.  Within 2 weeks, he had talked to approximately 250 of his college friends, classmates, and relatives.  Within a month’s time through his effort 89 people were baptized.  Now he is learning the Bible and also accompanying a team of trainers in his area for further experience.  15 house groups formed, and 11 churches started in July.

District 11
99 people trained in 9 villages.  After an accident, a policeman was hospitalized and unconscious for 3 weeks.  During that time, his wife met a volunteer who shared about the healing power of God, and she accepted Christ.  They went to the hospital to pray, and when the volunteer stretched out his arm to touch the injured man, he woke up, opened his eyes, and responded for the first time in 3 weeks!  Hallelujah!  Because of this remarkable healing, the hospital and the police station offered to host meetings inside the departments.  19 police people (families included) and 23 hospital staff (families included) accepted the Lord.  16 house groups formed, and 11 churches started in July.

District 12
97 people trained in 10 villages.  In one village, after one attempt, a training team fasted and prayed for a demon-possessed woman, and she was delivered.  The news spread in the village; and in one day more than 200 sick people were prayed for, and good news was shared with every person.  39 people accepted the Lord, and 2 house groups were immediately started in this village.  Now the team is coordinating discipleship training.  16 house groups formed, and 9 churches started in July.

District 13
109 people trained in 9 villages.  Since medical help is so difficult to access for the villagers, many of them are drawn to witch doctors.  One farmer who got bit by a poisonous snake met a volunteer on his way to a witchcraft doctor, and the volunteer offered to pray for the man.  Soon this man who was perspiring and who had a swollen wound and lips started to return to normal, and he was declared healed by the power of God.  To show their gratitude to the one true God, the family not only accepted the faith but also offered to have church in their home.  19 new house groups formed, and 10 churches started in July.

District 14
98 people trained in 9 villages.  After six years of being possessed by a demon, a 16-year-old boy was delivered when a team of trainers prayed for him.  In another village, a man was healed of memory loss, and his whole family of five peoples accepted the Lord.  14 house groups formed, and 11 churches started in July.

District 15
73 people trained in 6 villages. A boy who had been blind from birth received sight at a training, and he could see everything clearly.  Soon the village came to know about this, and many, many people praised the Lord for this great miracle.  In all, 117 peoples accepted the Lord after hearing the good news.  19 house groups formed, and 12 churches started in July.

District 16
109 people trained in 11 villages.  In village a village headman declared that the only church should be shut down because the H!ndu activists wanted it shut down.  Three days after, the 27 church people including children fasted and prayed that God would deliver them.  In 24 hours, news came that the village headman had been sick since the night before, and he was asking for the church people.  When 3 elders arrived, they saw that the village headman had been possessed by a demon; they shared their faith and prayed for him, and the demon left him.  Praise the Lord for the church prevailed again and peace was restored in the village.  The headman and his family of nine including two servants accepted the Lord.  11 new house groups started, and 10 churches started in July.

District 17
111 people trained in 9 villages.  During training in one village, 37 people attacked, burnt the shack, broke everything they possibly could, and beat up almost everyone who was there including the children.  Kindly pray.  In another village an epileptic farmer was healed completely during one of the trainings.  After three weeks he had not had any seizures at all.  And it was reported that the farmer, his twin brother, and his parents accepted the Lord.  13 house groups formed, and 10 churches started in July.

District 18
98 people trained in 9 villages.  After hearing that Christians pray for miracles, a farmer contacted one of the believers from a neighboring village pray for his cow, which had a skin infection and was not producing milk, so one leader and two volunteers went and prayed for the cow.  After one week the infection started to go away, and the cow started to give milk again.  In three weeks, the cow completely recovered; and the farmer and his family accepted the Lord, and now he is sharing with people the power of God.  14 house groups formed, and 11 churches started in July.

District 19
80 people trained in 11 villages.  A 28-year-old man (father of four) was paralyzed on his right side for three years.  The family went to many places including hospitals and witchcraft doctors but found no relief.  They were barely surviving since they had no income due to his sickness.  The man was brought to the training place on a cot; the volunteers and trainers prayed for him, and immediately he got out of his bed healed.  This amazing healing caught lots attention, and 29 people accepted the Lord that week.  14 new house groups formed this month, and 10 new churches started in July.

District 20
88 people trained in 9 villages.  Please pray for a malaria-stricken remote village and the believers there.  A village cobbler was infected with skin infection and was not able to work or earn for his family.  One of his regular customers, a trainer, offered to pray for him, and he recovered completely in a few weeks and resumed his work.  Now he has two duties: to repair shoes and to share his faith with his customers.  11 house groups formed, and 11 new churches started in July.

District 21
102 people trained in 8 villages.  There is a village in this district known for its temple to the goddess of the forest.  She has been worshiped for ages, and almost every tribesman wishes to worship in this temple once in his or her lifetime.  A training team decided to prayer walk around the village and the temple while fasting, taking turns to do so every day.  The team would circle the city and the temple, would bless the village and the people, and would pray against the biggest stronghold of that area.  In two months, many people who had visited the temple got sick, paralyzed, demonized, or even died.  The rumor spread that the goddess had fled from the temple.  In one more month, less and less people came.  It took 3 months altogether to see the temple go to ruins.  Now it has been 5 months, and nobody is visiting the area.  One church and 3 house groups have been started within these months.  Praise the Lord.  15 house groups formed, and 8 new churches started in July.

District 22
98 people trained in 12 villages.  A 2-year-old girl suddenly became unconscious, so her family took her to the local witch doctor, but the doctor was unable to help.  Then she was observed at the city hospital for 4 days.  But because they did not have enough income, the family came back home with the sick daughter who was not eating, talking, or moving at all after 5 days.  A neighbor suggested that in the next village some Christians live and pray for sick people.  The family decided to go.  The night they arrived, the local believers immediately gathered to pray and worship the Lord.  They prayed for the girl who became normal 2 hours after they prayed for her.  The family rejoiced, and the father accepted the Lord the same night and was baptized at 3 AM in the morning.  21 house groups formed, and 14 churches started in July.
