The following is part 7, the final post of the combined March and April India report for 2009.

District 21
221 people trained in 19 villages.  In one village, a new believer and his family were attacked when they were returning from weekly evening fellowship.  In this district, there have been several similar cases of leaders and believers being attacked.  Please pray.  Also, a girl suffering with epilepsy since birth would fall on the ground and foam, and her body became stiff for a few minutes.  She was brought to one of our trainings.  Volunteers prayed for her, and many demons manifested.  After hours of prayer for deliverance, she was finally free.  This was a great opportunity for the training team to share the faith with villagers.  79 people were baptized in one month because of this healing.  During a training while 4 volunteers and one trainer were teaching, a group of Hindu fundamentalists attacked the home where 23 people were present.  The attackers destroyed the property and burned the shack and everything inside it.  They beat up men and women; some managed to escape from the site; but the group of trainers were the ones targeted the most.  Two volunteers are still in hospital with head injuries.  Please pray for their healing and recovery as well for their families and for the protection of the believers in the village.  23 house groups formed, and 11 churches started in March and April.

District 22
188 people trained in 16 villages.  In a small fishermen’s community, a girl was stricken with polio when she was young.  She walked with a lifeless leg and could not get married for 27 years, but she “married” Jesus when she met Him in one of the trainings.  She started to share her faith almost immediately.  Because of her efforts for the Kingdom, she has baptized 211 people, and she is discipling more than 9 women.  Please pray that many who are waiting to meet Jesus would soon have the opportunity that many, many more may enter the Kingdom.  In one village, a young man accepted the Lord, which caused a lot of tension among the villagers and his family.  Though the family members did not like or support the idea of their son accepting a “foreign” religion, they protected him.  Soon the village council ordered that the social boycott of the family which means they are given no food or no water.  So the believers of the neighboring villages have been helping the family for now, but please pray that the Lord softens the hearts of the fellow villagers and that the family will be taken back into the village.  24 house groups formed, and 14 churches started in March and April.

District 19
175 people trained in 18 villages.  A leper came in contact with a volunteer and believed in the gospel.  Immediately he started to witness to his fellow lepers and friends who begged for alms with him.  In four months this man has been instrumental in having 173 people baptized and starting 13 churches among his community.  He is now an active trainer helping and discipling 5 members of his community and reaching out to other leper communities.  Also, a woman was healed of lucoderma (when skin loses color and turns white) when believers prayed for her.  After 10 weeks, her skin became absolutely normal.  There is a community of basket makers who worship the nature that gives them business and all things living—trees, earth, and water.  A volunteer visited his friend in this community and shared the gospel with his family of 7 adults and 2 children who believed and accepted the faith.  Soon the family shared their faith in the community, and in five weeks, they had already shared Christ with more than 300 people.  This resulted into a mass transformation of families.  By the end of sixth week, 100 people from the same community were already baptized; and last we heard, more were on their way into the Kingdom.  37 house groups formed, and 26 churches started in March and April.

District 20
162 people trained in 12 villages.  Doctors had lost hope and sent a man back to his home who had cirrhosis of the liver.  His brother heard from a friend about a meeting—our training—going on in their village.  A volunteer and a trainer went to pray for the dying man; and the training team fasted for three days and prayed for the sick man again. Two weeks later word came that the man was recovering and becoming better every passing day.  Later in the month, the man and his family of 11 people accepted the faith; and as a result of his healing, 27 people were baptized, and few more started to attend local fellowship.  A man was paralyzed on the right side for 3 years; and his family was in great trouble financially since he could not work.  One of our volunteers met this man and shared about Christ, and then the volunteer invited him to the training taking place. With one accord, the trainers and volunteers prayed for him, and in two weeks time, the tailor was walking fine and using his right arm and leg.  Soon after, he accepted the Lord with his family, and now he is getting ready to find a job or to re-open his own tailoring shop.  36 house groups formed, and 20 churches started in March and April.

District 17
217 people trained in 21 villages.  A man was working in his field when he was bitten by a poisonous snake.  The family quickly carried the man to local believers where they prayed for him, but he could not be saved.  This incident caused a lot of anger among the fellow villagers.   There have been no churches or fellowship groups in the village since last month.  Please pray for the doors to open.  Also, a man who was healed of partial blindness accepted the faith with his family of six and wishes to share his faith with others.  The village headmen usually play an important role in closing fellowships, attacking Christians, and other kinds of anti-Christian activities.  In one village, the headman, with the consent of the village council, forced the local house group to stop all Christian activities; he even ordered the social boycott of the family where the ho use group met.  Then the headman fell sick with high fever and painful boils on his body and face.  Most of the time, this kind of sickness is considered to be some kind of a curse or black magic.  So he and his family ran to the witch doctor then to the local temple’s Hindu priest.  Three days passed, but nothing happened. One night, the headman discussed with his family that maybe this happened because they stood against the Christians and drove them away from the village, so the next day a volunteer came and prayed for the village headman, and in a few hours, the fever went away and the boils started to dry.  The headman and his family accepted the Lord and permitted the family back into the village with all respect and started fellowship once again.  This time the headman and his family were also present there.  27 house groups formed, and 22 churches started in March and April.

District 18
177 people trained in 15 villages.  One man accepted the Lord with his family of 14 people, and this is his story:  “My buffalo gave birth to a female who was giving good milk for 2 months, and then suddenly milk stopped coming.  We called the doctor 5 times in 1 month, but nothing happened.  I shared my problem with one of my friends who called himself a servant of Jesus.  I had heard that he prayed for people, and they got healed; so I asked my friend to pray for my buffalo.  He shared the good news of Jesus Christ with us, and we believed what he was saying.  Then he prayed for our buffalo, and in the evening when we came to milk our buffalo, the milk came as usual and even more than before.  So my family and I accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and offered to have fellowship in our home.”  A remote village in this district has a population of 3,500 people, and there are no churches or believers in this village.  One of our volunteers was visiting for a few months trying to gain access into the village and the community.  When summer season started, the village had no hand pumps, no tube wells as there was no electricity, and the water-wells had dried up.  Altogether the village was in total chaos.  The volunteer used this situation as an opportunity to gain access.  He contacted the district headquarter of public works department and made the need known to the engineer.  Soon after, a RIG (machine) came into the village and fixed a water-well deep enough to have constant water supply for all the 3,500 people around the year.  By the time this report was being sent to me the volunteer was fellowshipping, teaching, and sharing the Kingdom with the villagers.  29 house groups formed, and 17 churches started in March and April.

District 15
174 people trained in 17 villages.  A 16 year old, demon-possessed boy would very often wander away from home for days, and people would find him and bring him back.  This continued for 8 or 10 months.  His family took him to well-known temples, shrines, and witchcraft doctors; they spent lots of money on sacrificing animals, but the boy was never delivered.  His family lost hope, peace, and money.  A Christian brother recommended that they visit Christians, so the family, having done everything that they could do, went to a training.  While taking the boy to the training, his condition was so bad that he had to be tied to the bullock cart.  The volunteers prayed for the boy, and after awhile, he was delivered.  The family and the boy accepted Christ after the gospel was shared with them, and a house group was started in their home.  One poor farmer had a daughter who was blind from birth.  He tried all his gods and witch doctors, but nothing worked; he went to the city hospital but did not have money, and he could not get any loans from the bank.  One night, he broke down and wept and prayed that if there was any God He would reveal himself and heal his daughter.  In one week the farmer was listening to the goodness of God in one of our trainings.  He believed the Gospel and was baptized with his family.  One of the volunteer’s relatives was in an influential administrative position in the city hospital, where the farmer’s daughter was recommended, and the management decided to give 90% donation for the blind girl’s operation.  The other 10% of the money was donated by the local village welfare committee.  The surgery was scheduled for May 13, 2009.  29 house groups formed, and 199 churches started in March and April.

District 16
179 people trained in 17 villages.  A leader and a volunteer fell into a 15-feet deep pit while returning from a fellowship at night.  Please pray as both were in the hospital.  Believers prayed for a farmer who had been suffering from asthma, and he has experienced no more heavy breathing and coughing since then.  The farmer has been traveling, sharing, and praying for sick people.   More than 37 people have been baptized, and 7 churches have been started because of his labor in the Kingdom. In this district, there are the least number of trainings in the last three months because the caste system is very, very strong.  Among the tribals there are two castes.  They do not want to fellowship together, so we are having a hard time having different fellowships for them in the same village.  Also volunteers are not coming forward because I think they do not want to be caught up in this caste system problem.  Please pray that the stronghold be brought down quickly.  23 house groups formed, and 12 churches started in March and April.

District 13
186 people trained in 13 villages.  There is a certain village head who is a local Hindu activist known for his cruelty to Christians, who is also responsible for having several churches attacked, and who has his hand in having beaten up many Christians.  One evening this man started having chest pain and could not get immediate medical help.  Time was crucial, and the sick man was going from bad to worse.  A worker suggested Christians pray for sick people, and the man hesitantly agreed.  One of our leaders was asked to come and pray for the headman.  Initially the leader thought this was a trap, but trusting the Lord, he went and found the situation to be the same as it was told to him.  The leader prayed and shared the gospel with the headman; then fearing his life, he left immediately without waiting for a response.  The following morning the leader was summoned back to the man’s house.  When the leader arrived, he was welcomed, treated well, and informed that the sick man had been healed in the night.  As a result of this healing, the headman became soft towards Christians and allowed a fellowship to be started in the village.  We discovered that one sister, a believer for three years, has baptized more than 119 people—all of them women—and she is also discipling few of them.  We are arranging for more women volunteers to help her to finish her task.  Also, another man was healed of skin infection that he suffered from for one year.  He accepted the Lord and is now pursuing his family and friends by sharing his faith and testimony.  31 new house groups formed, and 20 Churches started in March and April.

District 14
188 people trained in 16 villages.  A farmer who was suffering severe pain in his body was carried to one of our trainings, and when the leader prayed for him, the pain immediately left him.   The farmer accepted the faith then and there and was baptized the same day.  This incident angered his family and community.  They came and beat up the trainer.  The owner of the house where the training was taking place was also threatened.  Right now the village is closed to us.  Please pray.  A demonized young man was brought to one of our trainings. The volunteers shared the gospel with the sick man and his family and prayed over him; he got delivered, and the family went back to their home without accepting the faith.  After one week, word came that the family wanted to bring the boy back as he had the same problem again.  The you ng man was brought back, the trainer prayed for him again, and the boy got delivered.  After they repeated the same thing a third time, a team decided to go visit his home.  When the team arrived, this family was practicing witchcraft.  Then the team understood why the demons kept coming back.  The team taught the family how once the demons are driven out, they continue to come back with more of them; they were told that until the family comes under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and until they have the Holy Spirit there is no redemption since other spirits will continue to make this man their home.  One team member shared the good news again, and the family of 5 renounced their witchcraft practices and accepted Christ immediately after the boy was delivered.  Now the family enjoys the fellowship and continues to grow in the Lord.  31 house groups formed, and 22 churches started in March and April.

District 11
167 people trained in 19 villages.  A shoemaker was demonized during one of the local full moon festival nights; he was treated by several witchcraft doctors, but he could not recover.  The community head contacted well-known witch doctors and sorcerers to have the demonized man delivered, but the man’s condition remained the same.  During one training close to their village, the head man approached a trainer and asked if they could do something for the demonized man.  The shoemaker was taken to the training where he was prayed over.  From this, the small community was transformed, and 211 people were baptized in the first week as a result of the shoemaker’s deliverance.  A Hindu saint came to one of our trainings to listen and to observe what was being taught.  He listened for 2 days and started to ask questions.  It was evident that he was interested to know the truth.  By the end of the 5th day, he was convinced that Jesus is the only true way and that there is no other God besides Him.  After being baptized, the saint left with a Bible to know and read more.  Please pray and believe with us that this little man will be a good solider and a devoted servant in the kingdom.  Also please pray for a volunteer who fell from an open Jeep while returning from an outreach; she has a broken arm and some head injury; please pray for her recovery and her family.  34 house groups formed, and 23 Churches started in March and April.

District 12
164 people trained in 18 villages.  In one village, a woman was healed from a blood disease.  Another woman was suffering from skin disease; she heard about some people who prayed, and she approached one of the trainings where she was prayed over by the trainers and was healed.  She accepted the Lord with her family of 4 people.  In another village, a woman who was blind in one eye for a few years was healed during one of our trainings and accepted the faith immediately.  Also, the village head, after being healed of his deafness and stammering, not only accepted the faith with his family but also donated three hundred kilos of cornflower to be served during the trainings.  And he gave a bicycle to the volunteer who had prayed for his healing.  26 new groups formed, and 16 Churches started in March and April.
